Here at Johnson Performance Horses we specialize in the training of Reining, Trail (including Cowboy Trail), Versatility Ranch & All-Around Performance Horses plus the starting of all breeds of horses under saddle.
Robert Johnson has been training horses since 1975. He has numerous accolades to his credit over these many years including a World Championship in Reining at the APHA Worlds in 2002, five-times Champion at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Reining & Trail, USET Bronze Medalist in Freestyle Reining, AQHA Top Ten in Calf Roping, Equine Affaire Versatile Horse Champion and countless regional and state Championships over the years.
He also has trained and coached hundreds of youth and amateurs to wins at State thru National levels. This includes over 25 Congress Champions/ Reserves, plus multiple National Reining Horses Association and American Quarter Horse Association Top Ten Honors.
In addition to training horses, Robert also teaches lessons, gives clinics & coaches students at shows ( Go to our Clinic & Shows page for more info). Lessons are group or individual and range from beginner thru advanced levels in all western disciplines, Showmanship & Hunt Seat. Many clients have their horses at Robert's stable year round while some trailer in weekly for lessons. Others that don't own their horse take lessons on one of Robert's lesson horses.
Robert is a second generation horse trainer and has trained most breeds of horses. He has been a Board member of the Northeast Reining Horse Association and the Connecticut Quarter Horse Association. Also serving as its President for two years. His mother was a well known english riding instructor of over 60 years, his sister Patty Stovel shows Hunters & Jumpers and has been on the USEF Show Jumping team. His son, Kyle and daughter-in-law Heather are nationally know Reining competitors now living in Georgia.
